SMCAA Curriculum Bootcamp 2025
Ensuring a Comprehensive, Guaranteed, and Viable Curriculum
June 23-24, 2025
Old Kinderhook
Whether you have a solid grasp on curriculum writing and well underway to having your curriculum written or if you are new to the curriculum writing process, the 2025 SMCAA Curriculum Bootcamp has you covered!
This year we will be offering two different pathways/groups to help meet the needs of our member districts. The focus of Group A will be on conducting in-house curriculum audits. Participants in this group will work on reviewing their written curriculum to ensure it meets the rigor necessary to help their students perform at high levels of achievement.
Group B participants will have hands-on experience on curriculum writing. From reviewing standards and determining priority standards to determining learning activities, participants will engage in all steps of the curriculum writing process. At the end of the bootcamp, attendees will walk out with at least one completed unit to take back with them to use as a guide with their own district. Districts are encouraged to bring department heads or key curriculum leads to participate in this interactive experience.
In addition to the targeted tracks, both groups will come together the second morning and learn from Jerome Williams, ACT Account Executive, as he shares information on using the College and Career Readiness Standards to help align our curriculum to not only the MLS, but also the ACT.
Participants in both tracks will leave the Bootcamp with the skills needed and a plan in place to ensure they have a comprehensive, guaranteed, and viable curriculum in place. Gather up your curriculum directors, building admins, and key curriculum leaders and join us June 2nd and 3rd for this exciting event!

What’s Needed for a Successful Year? YOU!
SMCAA Annual Curriculum Directors Retreat
July 21 – 22, 2025
Old Kinderhook
Target Audience:Curriculum Directors, Instructional Coaches, Lead Teachers, Administrators
According to an AI summary, “A curriculum director is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of a school district’s curriculum, ensuring it aligns with educational standards, meets student needs, and provides appropriate training for teachers to effectively deliver the content; essentially acting as the leader in shaping the overall educational program within a school district by managing curriculum development, teacher training, and monitoring student progress.” Even as we read this lengthy “summary”, we all know this is just the tip of the iceberg of what we do as curriculum directors and leaders.
With so much to do, and with less time to do it at times, the job can be a little overwhelming and we often end up neglecting one of the key elements in our role: Ourselves. Join us at our 2025 SMCAA Curriculum Directors Retreat as we take two days to recenter, self-reflect, and set the stage for having a successful year.
Day 1 of the Retreat will give you the chance to reflect on you and your role as we take a look at the topics of your personal power; your leadership characteristics; and maximizing your impact.
Day 2 topics include prioritizing and setting your goals for the year; managing and leading change; and thinking evaluatively. The retreat will end with you summarizing what you have learned as you write a letter to yourself to be opened at the end of the school year. The sessions for this Retreat will include active learning processes as attendees apply what they are learning to themselves and their role in the district.
Bill Now or After July 1, available on the registration form.
