Strategic Questioning During Instruction and Assessment: Mini Webinar Sessions – March 12 ,9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. & March 13, 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Did you know that curiosity leads to questions, and questions lead to the discovery of new information? Without curiosity, learning is lost in the content. This is why questioning is essential to the learning process.  Questions can be planned and executed at many levels and in strategic ways.  With an effect size of .82, effective and intentional questioning can be effective during instruction, skills practice and assessment.  During this webinar we will consider questioning as a purposeful and strategic process. This webinar will be presented over two half-day sessions:

  • Session 1: Questioning as a Process: In this session we will introduce the basics of questioning, the purpose of questioning, question development, and types of questions and when to use them.
  • Session 2: Planning and Executing Effective Questioning: During this session we will review a step-by-step format in planning for questions and anticipating questions that students may ask. We will finish with questioning during formative evaluation (questioning to measure skill or learning levels in real time).

Are you curious? If so, join your colleagues for an informative learning experience just about all things questioning!

Target Audience: Instructional leaders, coaches, and content teachers interested in ways to improve their knowledge and skills in effective questioning.

Materials Needed/Interactive Level: Mid-level interaction as participants will be asked to reflect and share throughout the workshop.
