SMCAA Meetups

“Curriculum…You Have It, But Are You DOING It?”

April 16, 2026 – 9:30 Am to 11:00 AM

In January, a handful of districts met in Jefferson City to discuss the new resource outlined in Administrative Memo OCCR-25-011—Computer Science and how districts are implementing Computer Science in their district. Not only is DESE increasing its focus on Computer Science instruction, but so are legislators. HB 3139, being reviewed in the House right now, adds cybersecurity, social media training, and artificial intelligence as areas of focus while also requiring all students graduating after 2027-2028 school year to have completed one-half unit of academic credit with a computer science course before grade twelve. Even though this bill is still being debated, it reinforces the need for districts to take a hard look at the computer science instruction taking place within their district.

Join us for our April Monthly Meetup as we come together to collaborate about best practices in implementing Computer Science instruction in our districts. We will share a folder containing the presentation from January, DESE resource documents, and links to district-created resources for participants to review and add to for the benefit of all Missouri districts.

As always, any individual within our member districts is welcome to attend the Monthly Meetups. Feel free to invite others within your district who may focus more directly on with computer science instruction to share and participate in this relevant and engaging topic!

Monthly Meetup padlet (https://padlet.com/SMCAAResources/monthlymeetups ) to share your district’s resources to help aid in our collaboration!

Meet-ups will be casual in nature and allow YOU the chance to ask questions you have related to all things related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.  The open-forum format will give you the chance to hear not only from SMCAA personnel, but also from fellow members from across the state who join us during the meet-ups.

All Monthly Meet-Ups will use the same GoTo Meetings Room. To jump online to any of the Monthly Meet-Ups, CLICK HERE or go to this URL: https://meet.goto.com/664716005
