Champion Teaching Training and Learning Series

Attendee Testimonial: I’ve been to quite a few PD’s and I really feel that not only was Dr. Pyle’s relevant, it was applicable, which is not always the case. Classrooms and the game of teaching has changed in so many ways over the years and typically I feel like some of what is taught at PD’s aren’t actually able to be implemented or maybe it can be, but it in super specific instances. The advice and information you shared was valuable to me because they work, regardless of the classroom you teach in or the students in that room. Your lessons were more about setting up for success and creating a strong foundation that then allows the ability for some of the other PD advice to be used. So, in short, thank you for creating such a meaningful and intentional presentation. And thank you for presenting it in such a way that it resonated and allowed us to fully engage, not just listen.

Strand One: Classroom Culture and Management

Can you use a step-by-step process that will enhance strong instruction while promoting student engagement and learning?  Then Strand One is right for you!

During this two-day training, we will explore the ideas of Eric Jensen on what constitutes a learning environment that promotes predictability, stability, and safety.  We will identify seven Champion Teaching techniques from Doug Lemov’s book, Teach Like a Champion, that have proven to mitigate stress and work in a short amount of time.  Using additional current research, we will also identify and practice five strong lesson planning and execution techniques that will enhance both engagement and learning.

Fall 2025!

Strand Two: Champion Instruction: Whole Group Focus

During this one-day training, we will study the skills and techniques necessary for effective grade level whole group instruction. We will focus on the differences between teaching technique, instructional strategies and focused engagement skills.  Highlights include formative assessment during the instructional process, adjusting lessons to meet the students’ learning needs and reteaching. Participants will leave with what they need to get whole group instruction back on track!

In both trainings we provide both skills practice and ideas on how to present them to your staff!  We will assess your current staff needs and how you can navigate your Champion Teaching journey in your building or district. NOW is the time to reclaim your classrooms for student achievement!

Target Audiences For Both Strands: Administrators in charge of the instructional process; Instructional coaches; Classroom teachers, leaders and mentors.
