The Renaissance of Science Education
Presented by: Mike Sydlowski

Time: 9:00 - 3:00 (all locations)
Lunch Provided

It’s time to check your summer calendar and decide on which date/location will be best for giving your Science Team the opportunity to work with one of Missouri’s most knowledgeable and best leaders regarding the new Missouri Learning Standards. Mike Szydlowski, Past President of STOM and Director of Science Education for the Columbia Public Schools, will provide teacher teams the information needed to better comprehend and interpret the extent for which the new Science Standards expect that students’ experiences will require the development of higher order thinking skills. This summer, Mike will be expanding on the importance and meaning of addressing Phenomena and the Development of Assessments that require science understanding and not just facts.

Participants should look forward, once again, to a fast-paced interactive workshop that will include assessments, assessment strategies, and lab examples aligned to the new standards.  Sample units, assessments, and activities will be discussed in all grade level spans:  K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

If your teachers attended last summer, they will not find this session to be a repeat of that experience! Tell them to come ready to learn even more! Mike Szydlowski is one of the best motivators for science educators in the state!!!

One Hour of Graduate Credit available from Lindenwood University for $75.00 an hour.
