SMCAA is a state-wide non-profit curriculum support association. Its mission is to provide support to member school districts for the development, implementation, and evaluation of local curriculum aligned to state adopted standards and designed to support student achievement. Funding for the association comes largely from membership. Therefore, when we say, “We are only as strong as our membership”… We really mean it!

As schools transition to the new Missouri Learning Standards, SMCAA is prepared to continue its dedication to help schools identify clear learning targets; develop aligned and appropriate assessments both of and for learning; create engaging learning activities and implement effective instructional strategies. SMCAA works to help guide district-established vertical teams to examine data and collaborate regarding appropriate scope and sequence at each grade-level. Special attention is given to being cognizant of the learning progressions necessary at each grade/course level to ensure students are prepared for success at the next grade/course level. Teachers will learn how to design content-rich curriculum that actively engages students in their own learning, through use of teaching strategies that will take students to a more complex and rigorous level in order to maximize learning.

Membership in SMCAA is a district-level membership. Registration is based on district size and gives all district teachers, administrators and curriculum leaders membership privileges.
